Master Distiller Lauren has set sail on her maiden voyage — from recipe to fermentation and distillation, she charted the course for production of this incredible rum. You hold the first spirit crafted from start to finish by one of the country’s few female master distillers. Already an accomplished and award-winning whiskey distiller, Lauren wanted to enter the world of craft rum, a small-but-growing segment of craft distilling.

From the islands of the Caribbean to colonial Boston, rum distillation’s history is rich and complicated, like the blackstrap molasses chosen specifically for our first rum. Silverback Rum is fermented from grade A blackstrap molasses, and is flavorful and distinct, meant to stand out in a cocktail or enjoyed neat.

Our rum shares much of the DNA of our whiskeys — Blue Ridge Mountain water, column distillation, choice yeast, and top-notch distillers. Lauren’s recipe derives from Silverback’s legacy of world class whiskey-making, but its origins are decidedly novel.
